SAFARI EQ2: Gorilla tracking
(Bwindi) & Queen Elizabeth National Park (6 Days)
Day 1: Kampala - Kabale
- Wake up for an early breakfast and set off for Western
Uganda immediately.
- Stop over at the equator line for a feel of a lifetime
– being in two hemispheres at the same time. Take
photographs and buy crafts.
- Proceed to Mbarara for lunch.
- Continue and arrive Kabale in the evening. Enjoy the cold
breeze and spend your night at Lake Bunyonyi Overland Camp/cottages
or Bushara Island.
Day 2: Lake Bunyonyi - Bwindi
It is the deepest lake in Uganda, 2nd deepest in Africa and
3rd deepest in the whole world! It is naturally decorated
with 29 beautiful islands. Bunyonyi is also famous for crayfish
– which you can’t find anywhere else in Uganda.
- After breakfast, tour the islands as you bird around.
You will be amazed by the stories about the Hakampene Island.
- Take nature walks around Bushara
- View variety of bird species from which the lake’s
name was derived as you tour the islands.
- Have your lunch at either Bushara Island or Bunyonyi Overland.
- After lunch, drive to Bwindi through the Kigezi terraces.
You will be amazed by the beauty of the terraced hills which
differentiates this area from the rest of Africa –
hence Church Hill named it “The Switzerland of Africa”!
- Spend your overnight at Buhoma Community Guest House/Buhoma
Homestead.
Day 3: Gorilla tracking
- Take an early breakfast and head for your adventure of
a lifetime – gorilla tracking.
- Spend the day looking for these closest relatives of mankind!
- You will also marvel at this tropical forest and prove
that it is indeed an impenetrable forest.
- In the evening return to Buhoma for an overnight. You
will be entertained by a local dancing group giving you
chance to associate with the local communities.
Day 4: Bwindi – Mweya Safari Lodge
- Wake up early and head for Mweya Safari Lodge / Jacana
Tented Camp. Mweya Lodge is located at the peninsula overlooking
Kazinga Channel. At Mweya, some wildlife such as warthogs
are commendable for their hospitality to visitors as they
visit you without your invitation. Endeavor to close your
bedroom lest you share bed with some of these friendly creatures!
Day 5: Tour Queen Elizabeth National Park
- Take an early morning game drive for those animal which
wake up early
- Return to Mweya for breakfast
- Head for a boat cruise at Kazinga Channel – host
of a highest population of hippos and plentiful species
of birds. The boat cruise gives you good platform to take
photographs at a distance, you will view Democratic Republic
of Congo (DRC)
- Return to hotel for lunch
- After which, take an evening game drive to view crater
lakes with its solitary buffalos.
- Overnight at Mweya
Day 6: Mweya – Kampala
- Take your breakfast then head for Kampala with a stop
over at Lake View Regency Hotel – Mbarara for lunch
- After lunch proceed and stop again at the equator line
for a final feel of the sun’s pathway (this is optional)
- Proceed and arrive your Kampala hotel in the evening
